Meal Plan: Week 13, 2024 – 353 Seasons, Game Dinner, 20-year-old, and Spring Break

We have been blessed or cursed with warmer weather, depending on who you talk to. The conversation will undoubtedly gravitate towards climate change. Without getting into a heated debate about the causes of the warmer weather, we certainly enjoyed the sunny days, and so did our solar panels.

I’m almost obsessed with looking at the solar panel app to see how much electricity we produce, hoping we reduce our dependency on the power grid.

Talking about the age-old discussion about the weather, we had a fantastic end to our St. Patrick’s Day week.

We witnessed a legend of old-school boybands, iconic voices, and songs that have hit the soundwaves for decades and have been in many movies. At first, you might not recognize the name, but he’s one of the last standing Rock-pop-disco-blue-eyed soul legends—Frankie Valli.

I was amazed that he was still alive, without sounding morbid, but this guy has been around since before World War II and has been entertaining since 1960 when Frankie and the Four Seasons made young women scream and faint.

You might remember Jersey Boys, a movie about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons – a film and story my wife loves.

As such, we (or should I say my wife) bought tickets for the family to attend his concert at Radio City … and what a night!

The boys sing and play.

I was unsure what to expect, but I thought the audience would be full of elderly women throwing their knickers and bras at the stage while dancing in the aisles.

I wasn’t too far off, but I was also surprised by the number of younger women in the audience.

Most women (probably all) were screaming and singing along as Frankie entertained. My wife was standing, clapping, and singing with a giant grin on her beautiful face. Seeing her enjoy the moment and appreciate a legend singing songs of love was lovely.

Game Dinner

We attended our first charity dinner Saturday evening at the local fire department.

A sportsman association, where I’m a member, hosted a game dinner with all-you-can-eat and drink. I had bought tickets for my wife and me to enjoy a date night while eating excellent game meat.

The main meat of the evening was venison and wild boar, but we were surprised by some redneck dishes that were on display and ready to be consumed.

I’ve never tried squirrel or snapping turtle dishes, but now I have!

Week Twelve Meals

We will be celebrating our daughter’s 20th birthday. I cannot believe our little girl is no longer a teenager. Does this mean that she’s now an adult?

It is difficult for us to accept that she’s now a young woman, has a boyfriend, and will be moving to Florida this summer. Are we really that old?

I will make a few dishes she enjoys to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, but our main focus will be on the upcoming weekend and making waffles for breakfast.

School Lunches

There will be no school lunches this week. It’s spring break in our county, so the kids must fend for themselves. It should be interesting!

Dinner Time

I’m preparing three dinners for the week. Each dinner takes 30-40 minutes to prepare, including cutting the vegetables.

I wanted to make a cauliflower rice and ground turkey dish, but I couldn’t find cauliflower rice in BJs, so I decided to substitute the ‘rice’ with quinoa. It turned out pretty damn good.

Secondly, I made Italian wedding pasta – not as soup but as a pasta dish. I used ravioli and made the chicken meatballs from scratch. I baked the meatballs for 30 minutes while I prepared the main ingredients.

Lastly, I made a simple red kidney bean chili—plenty of healthy gut beans with onions and carrot pieces.
