Memory lane, here I come.
I still remember when I had the awesome opportunity to witness Monsters of Rock, way back in 1991 at Gentofte Stadion (just outside Copenhagen). AC/DC was headlining and Metallica was warming up.
Some friends and I traveled to the venue early morning, and it was a nice warm day compared to the history of Danish summers.
Anyway, my very good friend Kasper and I were buying beer, when we suddenly heard thunder in the distance. We looked at each other and shouted “they are getting on stage” and ran towards the front of the stage with two pints each.
To be honest, by the time we have squeezed us through sweaty long-haired dudes, we probably had half a pint left. Who cared!
We were having a blast screaming ‘thunderstruck’ while saluting the kings of rock and headbanging with several thousand people.
Songs are like a scrapbook. You hear a song and you are in your DeLorean going back in time. The memories come flashing back and it’s awesome.
Here’s to AC/DC, the millions of headbangers, beer, sweat, and the rock salute
