Song of the day: In the Air Tonight

Let’s welcome a new work and homeschooling week!

Wait for it!  You know this is coming.  Get your air-drumsticks ready.  The most iconic drum sequence know by millions around the globe.

We’ve all done.  We’ve all waited patiently for the part in the song where we can unleash our inner kid with an imaginary drumset, and in front of an invisible audience, ready to unleash the drum monster from the Muppet Show.

Heck, I still get excited when I hear Phil COllins’s voice and the start of the song.  I anticipate my drum solo, even without knowing the lyrics fully.  We know what to listen for and when the songs get to this point, we grin.

3:17 … that’s the point in this video when the famous drum sequence hits.

Get into your position.  Ready your drumsticks.  Unleash it!  You can feel it in the air!

When reading parts of the lyrics, I wonder if this could be translated and applied to today’s climate, where we fear the COVID.

Was the COVID a manmade disaster unleashed by accident in a Chinese lab?

Is the media overreacting and creating a fearmongering environment, where it becomes almost impossible to trust anything they report?

The boy who cried wolf springs to mind.

The Government has perhaps overreacted and locked down an entire county and shattered the economy, and did so because we don’t really know what could’ve been and how to respond to a pandemic.

Even in darkness, we can learn and evolve.  We will be better prepared in the future

Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand

I’ve seen your face before my friend, but I don’t know if you know who I am

Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes

So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you’ve been

It’s all been a pack of lies

And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord

Well I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord

Well I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord, oh Lord
