16 years old, sitting in my parent’s garden, listing to what we considered heavy rock back then. It was more undercover pop music, but it was awesome nevertheless. It was a typical summer afternoon with my friends, sharing mixtapes and listening to the ‘Top of the Pops”.
CDs, MP4 files, Spotify, Google, YouTube weren’t really invented back then. We had no choice but to buy types, vinyl, or listen to the radio. Mixtapes were an art form, requiring extreme precision and skill to start/stop recording when your favorite song came on the air.
Believe it or not, I’m actually older than Google and most of these inventions! I just made myself sound older than I feel?!
If you are not familiar with any of the 80s rock bands, then I suggest you Google it; Poison, Cinderella, Meat Loaf, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Def Lepard, White Snake, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Warrant … and many more
Tight leather pants, big hair, bare chests, chains, bandanas, and make-up, the perfect rock ‘n roll attire in the 80s.
Many, if not most, of the 80s bands, released these power ballads. They are intense love songs, serenading their imaginary girlfriend. The leader singers most likely had several girlfriends at the same time and used these songs as a way to lure in more girls.
Perhaps I’m reading way too much into these songs LOL
Cinderella was one of the top “rock” bands I listened to, so it is only right that I share this wonderful power ballad with you … on hump day. I would happily crank up the headset on my walkman, drifting away from my parents, or my sister screaming at me for being an annoying little brother – simply let Tom Keifer take it away.
Part of the lyrics could be tributed to the people tearing down and erasing our history.
Don’t know what you got till it’s gone
Anyway, enjoy this power ballad on a warm summer hump day. It’ll put you in a great mood, and the rest of the week will fly by.
