Second Day of Advent

Each candle in the Advent decoration has a color and a meaning. The First Advent was attributed to hope, and the Second Advent is a symbol of peace.

With a long exhausting and a challenging year behind us, we need to refocus on our faith and prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. The promise of the second coming strengthen our faith, and we seek comfort in the readings.

We are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with him.

Peter 3:8-14

The second purple candle, called the “Bethlehem Candle,” is lit. This candle represents love and symbolizes Christ’s manger.

Joy to the world, now we sing
Let the earth receive her king
Joy to the world, now we sing
Let the angel voices ring

Pentatonix, a fairly young band, competed in the NBC Sing-Off and won a record deal. Since then, they have released many cover versions, putting their own style to these songs.

They released a cover version of “Joy to the World” in 2016, an excellent song for the Second Advent, as we focus on peace and prepare for the second coming.
