Well, I’m fairly certain that Vikings did not eat yogurts. I do not believe it was “invented” back then. But, if they had yogurt this would be their breakfast of choice.
We can also have a discussion about some of the ingredients as these may not have arrived in Scandinavia. However, given Vikings made it to the Middle East, it is totally possible that they did pick up some exotic new foods.
Ignoring the historical challenges, the breakfast for Vikings would be:
- 1 cup of low-fat yogurt (I use almond)
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 5-6 pitted prunes
- 2 large dried figs
- A small handful of rolled oats
This awesome dish will fill most people and give you plenty of energy for hours.
I eat it every day and can highly recommend this. The ingredients are good for your heart too and do not contain too much “bad” sugar that might increase blood pressure slightly.
